Hi all!

I was just voting for Dec's POTM & a POTM of another popular cichlid site.

So, while voting I had this thought - the popular cichlid site had a 'comments' feature for all POTM entries once the contest results were announced. I liked the feature. The down side is that these comments are essentially deleted once the next contest starts, but they were a great way for comments on photos to be made - position of the photo in the contest, other details, fish type, praises / er ... flames, etc.

So I was wondering if APF should have a similar feature - a feature allowing comments on each individual POTM entry. Better yet if they are stored (3mths? 6mths? permanently?). IMHO the thread on the winner should stay (for a good discussion?), but there is a clear lack of comments on the other POTM entries.

Of course, an alternative is we could create an individual post in the forum and link the photo ...

I love this site!

John, It would be a lot of posts to talk about individual entries. Most of the time on the "other" sites, it's nothing except "nice photo, should have done better" or "great photo, I rated it...". The winner threads we have were initially meant as discussion threads for the specific contest, where you got to voice your opinions on the entries, but, you are right, lately that has not been as evident as it should. I think doing separate threads is a bit much, but I personally will try to encourage more discussion of the contest as a whole, rather than the "glad you won, congrats" and that is all.

Hi Ed,

Yeah, agreed. Good point.

What about a separate thread to discuss the Top3? Top5? I usually find the discussion limited to the Top Winner, and the other entries are kinda 'undiscussed'.

Just wanted to see more opinions/discussions. Yeah, it's kinda all "congrats" (myself guilty inclusive).

RB,

I somehow agree with you. I would to see other comments, decisions and reasons why submission was voted the way someone did. I guess we could try something like that in december or maybe in January after POT Year.
