I have a few yellow labs that like to get in front of the camera but every time i try to take a pic of them the flash bounces off of them and make a glare so they look mostly white. What can i do to fix this? any way i can edit the pic? or an angle that will prevent it?

Try to use some paper to cover your flash so as to diffuse the flash output. It might help [smilie=photo.gif]

Using top lighting should help. And diffusing the flash will be a necessity

One thing I've been toying with is a bounce/diffused flash just using a piece of paper. Just fold it in thirds, cut a hole big enough for your lens, and let the built in flash, or even a shorter hotshoe flash diffuse through the paper. Fills the shot, and doesn't have such a stark bounceback.

I've not had a whole lot of time to play with my camera yet, but I've gotten some interesting results.

The effect looks pretty good to me. What shutter speed & aperture did you get of that photo?

I personally like Foodog's one the best, as it's a pretty true representation of a Lab. The other one seems a bit too goldish and metallic, which is usually flash reflecting off the scales, making it darker and more metallic.

D70! I want!!!!!!

It's nice to be able to use my old lenses... just wish I had time to work with it. Soon I hope. I need to get some additional fill lighting before I start really getting serious with it. The diffused flash used to work well on bugs and such, seems to give fish an eerie tone. While I find it interesting, not exactly the look that I want.

You've never seen my labs *wink*

Seriously, this lab is solid color, borderline deep yellow-orange. Especially as this specific one has gotten older. Gets the bearding when he starts showing off... and he is a camera hog!

Here's a picture of him a little more than a year ago

I agree, the light tends to make it look more *shiney* than I'd like... but it was more for illustrative purposes.
