Well, I was about to make my annual donation, as promised, anyway. I gues now it's just a formality.:-D

Like the concept and feel it is well overdue. Sign me up:-D

I don't have an active paypal account. Do I have to set one up to get on board?

i found it somehow, and decided to play along :)
this is really a great offer. 200mb for < $10 a year is a steal.
Just one question. Can you get double the amount for double the price? If so I may just wipe out my pbase account as it will expire soon anyways.

Bobby and Hristo, you just follow the prompts, it creates a paypal account. All you need is a major credit card to set it up. Very simple, and 100% secure. Trust me, I have been a member for over 5 years and over 2,000 transactions. It's a bank. It does not matter what country you are in. They are worldwide, it's EBAY :)

Hiro, I have not thought of it, let me discuss with Jay. I dont know yet how to implement that but I think it's possible.

I am a relatively new member here but, enjoy participating on this site.

Heck, I was gonna donate a little to help cover the expenses.

I like this offer even better. So I just paid my $9.99!

Thanks, bobby, hiro, mark, and the few others who decided to give APF PM a try. Please make sure to really try it out and help me work out the kinks of there are any. I am also working on a few other things that may improve it a bit too.

Reefrunner, thanks, and try to be more active, now that you have TONS of space to store your photos :)

Mark, yeah, the gallery, the hosting, putting your files on other sites/communities, make sure it all works.

Ed,
I found out what my problem was: at home my computer uses Firefox for the browzer, which is what I use
on most forums except this one, I view APF using IE. My computer at work is always IE so everything worked
fine there. If anyone is experiencing problems posting pics, make sure you're viewing in IE, not Firefox. This
may be only peculiar to those still using Windoze 2000 Pro, like me:redface:

Sorry for the hassle, Ed.

bill, that could not be, the forum software is not browser dependent. I do all my coding in Opera and Firefox, and check everything I do for all three browsers, there should never be problems accross them. :) Most programmers have all 3 to check the stuff out :)

There might be some plugins, extensions, I haven't downloaded for Firefox, dunno. When I open this site
in Firefox, it's devoid of photos, nice font colors, etc, maybe I should take a pic of the screen and post it.
When I open the site in IE, everything is back in place. Or maybe I was caught up in an electromagnetic
storm and landed in a parallel universe:lol: Perhaps I made the whole thing up....NOT!:-D

Bill needs to ramp up to Windoze XP, too...can't use Elements 4.0 without it:-(

Reading again “Premiere member benefits” – I want to ask for more details and explanations
about last 6 points:
- “No Water marking”…What exactly mean – do not put from this moment any signature on photos (year, name, frame, photos specification…) ?
- If I upload pictures in “my gallery” with resolution 1024/768 pix or 800/600 pix – may I use this resolution for my thread attachments…(not only 640/480 pix) ?
- “Ability to attach Images directly to Threads (not available to regular members)” – what’s mean “directly”?
- “Exclusive Article System. Only Premiere Members get access to our extensive and growing library of articles” – where is this library…?
- “No Banner Advertisements in threads and within the forum.”… - ??
- “Unlimited Sub-folders”… - ??

Thanking You in anticipation !

good questions.

1. No watermarking means we do not watermark your image with our logo, it's your image, PURE, no changes.
2. No, you still need to follow the rules on using images here, 800 is the MAXIMUM you should be using, and 640 wide is preferred.
3. Attachment is something you will see when you create a new thread or reply to one, under the text box it will ask you if you want to attach photos, and just follow directions. It puts them on our server, but it's not the same, you can't share those in other places, it's for THAT Thread only.
4. Look on the main forum page for a Section called "Knowledge base" that has 3 subsections: Articles (viewable ONLY to Premiere Members), Tutorials and Reviews (visible to everyone)
5. No banner ads under the announcements, under the forum, and within the threads under the first post. The sidebar ads that are house ads still stay :)
6. Unlimited subfolders. You are now able to create sub-folders in your gallery to better organize your photographs. The Gallery Tutorial (in the Tutorials section of the Knowldge base) shows you how to do it (I think) :)

BY THE WAY, as Premiere members you get access to the Premiere Member area, where you can talk to other members (threads) and ask us for any help. It's just a special forum area, visible ONLY to premiere members and Team APF.

Hey Hristo. I'm going to try and answer your questions...but first, let me thank you.

You are the ONLY person in the whole world, besides my immediate family, to wish me a happy birthday...on my birthday! Thanks, you Bulgarian %$@#&*:-O

#1- In the past when you had your pix hosted here, the APF logo was watermarked on the image. No longer.

#2- I think you can use your uploaded resolution on all your attachments for sharing.

#3- Members who are not signed up for the premium membership package, cannot uitilize "attachment" conveinces.

#4- Members not signed up can't have access to all the articles, tutorials and other "Premier Membership" folks can read.

#5- You don't have to read and be influenced by advertisements like the non - "Premium Members".

#6- I think this refers to your gallery of photos. You can catergorize your pix in as many folders as you wish. You know, like Discus I, and Discus II, and Discus II and so on.;)

Hope I did Ed's job well.:-D

Too bad it was not his way when I donated for the platinum membership. To start donating again on this relative short notice is too much for me... I am going to enjoy the platinum status for a while first.

paradise
01-17-2006, 12:51 PM
Peter we appreciate your donation, and like we said, you can keep those features as long as you want.

There is a core difference between the old program and the new one. The old one was a donation system that gave you a little bit of perks. The new one is a product you purchase. It's one of the best deals online as far as image hosting, huge difference between the 40mb and 200 mb plus, no watermarking, no image editing (most companies edit your image to make it more web friendly). Totally different usage.

paradise
01-17-2006, 1:05 PM
BTW, for those with heavier image load, I just added the Premiere+ section, which has the same features but gives you 500mb of space. There is no easy way to upgrade, but if you sign up for it, just pay the $15 difference and let me know, I will reset the subscription to cancel the old one and activate the new one.

good deal Ed. Just wondering. What will happen if the annual payment lapses? Will the images be deleted or ? are there any notifications there to let you know? It would be cool if there was somewhere that shows how many months are left on subscription.

paradise
01-17-2006, 6:37 PM
Hiro, actually I dont know. I doubt that the software deletes them, but you may not have access to them if you dont renew. The subscription is an automatic renewal, it does not ask you to renew, it actually just charges your account (and the bank or credit card that is attached to it if you dont have a balance) for the yearly fee on the date. There should be no lapses. To stop it you actually have to cancel it prior to the date.

I just quickly want to jump in and thank those who are participation in Premiere Program. It is a great deal for those who are looking for "cheap" space, great way to support our hobby and wonderful way to "pay back" for endless hours of putting this entire forum together.

Thanks and keep snapping !

Hello, I am new in the forum.
Using Premiere Member status I have uploaded some pictures. The original files were 1024x768.
I was surprised by the resolution of uploaded images - they become 800x600. Any idea why?

paradise
01-18-2006, 11:21 PM
That is very weird, dont know why it's doing it, just checked size permissions and it should be fine. Will definitely look into it ASAP.

01-18-2006, 11:23 PM
Welcome, Stas! Those are some magnficent planted tank pics! The rules for uploading images is 800 is
the max width, with 640 preferred. Anything larger will be automatically resized to 800 on the long side.

edit: Just saw Ed's post...is 800 no longer the limit on uploads?

paradise
01-18-2006, 11:39 PM
No, because of the new Hosting system we upped it to 1024x768. It was not showing that way in individual galleries. Please check your galleries again and let me know if it's still that way. It should be fixed now.

Bill, that does not change (for now) image posting size, only gallery hosting size allowed.

Stas, please re upload and let me know. I tested it with a copy of my image and it showed up reg. 1024 size.

Ed-Quick question concerning upgrading from Premiere to Premiere +. Like you stated there is no 'official' way to upgrade. When I go to pay for 'the upgrade' there is no option for $15. Do I just go and adjust the cost via paypal and just email/pm to let you know that the $15 has been sent?

Yes, now it works with 1024x768!
A little bit slow for me, but from Bulgaria this is international traffic and it is normal to be slower.
OK, thanks a lot!

RA, to upgrade just buy the $25 membership and after I get the email I will cancel the first one and refund the first paypal payment. That is the only way to do it, that I know of, for now.
