Another great year ended and I can honestly say that APF member's experience and knowledge level improved drastically. Aquatic POTY was very close throughout the contest. Winners changed few times but it was between Zhou, Andreas and Ed.
My personal pick was Zhou for its composition -10.
Ed submission got 9 for its uniqueness and coloration.
Andreas submission got 9 for well executed photograph and mind blowing coloration.
I want to congratulate the winner, runners up and every single APF member for participation.
Congratulations to the winner of AQUATIC POTY - 2005 - Zhou Hang

Congrats to everyone who got this far, to be included in this Prestigious contest. I agree STRONGLY with the top pic and I am glad that it made it to the top. Nothing to take away from the other entries (amazing all, every one) but this one just appeals on every level. It's a tough as nails fish to photograph, it's a one-in-a-million shot of two of them doing the "dance". I have one and I know how amazing that shot is. The execution is stylish and artistic and yet, clean. Great job, Zhou.
congratulations Zhou on a very impressive image and taking the gold in a tough competition. congrats to everyone else as well.

Congratulations Zhou...a beautiful composition and well executed. Also well done to Ed and Andreas. I have always loved Ed's goldfish shot which is another great composition and Andreas shot shines like a beacon. The members of APF should be proud of the very high quality work they are producing which makes this the number one aquatic photography site on the web.CheersRich

Thanks everyone! Actually I have not been shooting since then, but winning this prestigious contest really gives the energy to pick up the camera again!
Cheers,
As it should. That picture really is excellent and I'm looking forward to seeing more high calibre pics.
Beautiful picture from all that made it so far.

Congratulations from me as well, Zhou!
Hope to see more pictures from you in the near future.
And lastly an idea for this years contests: what about aquatic theme contests (action, prawns, plants, tanks etc.)?

Andreas, We'll be exploring the themes in this year's versions of the SNAP & TWIST. I dont think I want to limit the main contest to a theme.

Well done to everyone whose photo made it into this contest. I found it very diffciult to make up my mind and I can't argue with the final vote - Zhou's photo is a beauty.

Congrats, MrTree. Last year is a fruitful year for you. Well, if not for your great photo, mine should be in the contest of POTY 2005. I'll remember that.......

Haha, actually my all time fav aquatic picture is a pair of Zebra Danio flaring, taken by Koji Yamazaki! It's a perfect picture taken in slide..Zebra danio is a lot faster than this rainbow fish! In fact this picture I don't like the way the front fish spreads its pectoral & pelvic fins.
Initially I submited this to Ed..

but six hours later I managed to capture the final one, and resubmited.
And these two were taken a day before.

Cheers,
Darn.... they are really "SOME" great models!!! Anyway, the one you win the POTY is still the best, IMHO.

Yeah, I think that is the key, I have tried to do it with one of them but no, you need several to play off each other. I am trying to get "THAT" shot with the featherfin rainbows now :)
