Well I know nothing about Cories however I have one in my tank. Don't know anything about it.

Still learing about the D50, trying out a closeup +4 filter on my 18-55mm DX.

First off that species is Corydoras aeneus.

As a critique, I feel that the shot would benefit from a tight crop. It would have been better if you had shot it much-closer then you did. The background is extremely distracting and only serves to detract from the scene.
This picture looks very harsh and flat because of the flash. Work to diffuse it as best you can, especially with reflective species like these. The silica sand you have in the tank does not help your cause at all. I've always had a hard time dealing with a similiar substrate in my tanks.

You lose alot of quality with the closeup filter and it's quite apparent in this case. It also renders the out of focus detail very unpleasently. A dedicated macro investment is a great investment if you're going to continue with fish photography. I feel that rather then using a closeup filter you could easily have taken this shot with your kit lens and cropped it to get the required magnification, it would also allow you to get far more DOF then you have.
