Here's a few more pics of my brevis I took after adding in a couple rocks to the tank.

What do you think? I've had these guys for about 10 days now, they seem to be doing real well.

Quite appropriate - brevis is Latin for short, though perhaps not meant to describe life expectancy.

Makaze - nice looking fish. I've never heard of them, so I'm off to Google.....

What are the shooting parameters of these shots? The white substrate is way over exposed. Guess you didn't use flash for the shots. IMO, you need more light (flash light or tank lights) to improve the shooting condition. With stronger lights, you can use smaller aperture size plus very short exposure time, in which way you can get less contrast between the subject and the substrate. Hence, will show more details for the white substrate.

Thanks for the comments. I would guess the male is about 2.5 inches (6cm), and the female about 1.25"(3cm), which is basically max size from what I've read. They're of the Ikola "sunspot" variety of Lamprologus brevis.

Thanks for the tips, CDM. I took these shots just using the tank light, a 15 watt flourescent tube. If I use the flash, it seems to really freak the fish out, and they immediately go into hiding, though I may experiment with it more later.
