Enjoyed the write-up Ted :) Looks like they have a good variety of fish there and it would be an interesting place to visit with a camera.

Nice write up Ted. I will be visiting the Shedd Aquarium during the ACA in July. I was there about five years ago while on a business trip. It is a pretty nice aquarium. This time I'll be taking pictures. In fact, Ed is planning on going too.
Do they have any camera restrictions?
I do not think that there are any camera restrictions, but conditions are pretty tough due to the thickness of the glass and the depth and darkness of most the tanks. Most of the decent shots I got were of fish that were close to the glass. I used an external flash that I held with one hand off to the side, and noone came running to stop me.

Bobby, as soon as I finalize my trip details, I want to do an Official Meet at the Shedd, hopefully Ted and you will show up, and then hopefully a few more APF members will too. The LA meet was SUCH a blast, we need to do it again, and, I think Chicago is perfect for it. There is more stuff coming up to do with the meets, we are about to introduce a whole area of the site devoted to it.

Thanks, Ted, I remember visiting the Shedd the first time when I was in about the fourth grade, in about 1959 or 1960, and it was an amazing place. The thing that fascinated me were rooms full of mid-sized aquaria, each one set up to represent a different ecotope. I'm sure glad to hear, and see, from your fine report, that they are still up to that kind of excellence.
