This must be a combination of white balance issues and color management on your computer. Try setting your white balance in "auto" on the D70s Menu.
Try shooting in raw "NEF" format on your camera. If you are using photoshop CS, or another raw processer, you can process the raw images with the real colors.
I suggest you see if your saving in SRGB color in your pp software. Also check and see if you're computers graphics card allows you to set the monitor colors in SRGB. If may be available in the "monitor" > "colors" > "advanced" folder of your settings.
I can't see how your flash setup could cause so drastic a difference. In fact, when I ran this shot through "auto levels", the background was blue:

Hi Bobby,
you never know what comes out after "auto levels" ;-)

Bobby, the color of the clowns looks better in the green photo so I have to assume the "autocolor" did not work right, usually it does not. In yours, they are a bit yellow, where they should be more "caramel yellow" like the first photo. I dont know what would turn background green, besides green tint from the bare glass tank, but not that much. Weird.

Yeah, agree. But what is going on here if the background should be black?

Can you post what it looked like before you processed it?
