This was shot with the Tamron 28-75mm f/2.8d XR Di. I think the colors are exquisite. No filters, and shooting hand held into a stiff wind.
What should I do to make it right?

I dont see anything wrong! :P
It looks slightly contrasty on my moniter, but everything does.
Maby moving slightly closer to the water, losing the bushes on bottom and making the line of the dirt/path run along the bottom of the frame?
Maby some burning and dodging, on the sky and water?
Its a nice shot. It took me a while to think of somthing ;)

I kinda did what I meant. Its a real rush job, but you get the idea.

In the 1st image the eye has nothing to fix on.
Hopefully, with more work, the eye will be directed to the island on the right and bouncing between the bright clouds on the left.... trapped in the image.

I think a circular polarizer would have helped you out a lot, especially with the glare on that water.
Foreground is a bit busy for me (the clouds are quite exquisite and knowing me, I'd just crop out the bottom  ) and the lighting on the foreground/background is a bit off. For situations like this when you have such a straight horizon, I would consider a GND filter.
hrm, I might be wrong but I think your horizon is tilted.
I think you could add a mermaid or 2

That's what I'm seeing as well.

Beautful sky Bobby, especially as today it raining the provibal cats and dogs here yet again. Slanting horizon aside, to me the shot is lacking in any real focal point and the foreground is dead space. I am no expert on Landscape but where you lack a focal point some foreground interest or lead lines can help make the shot. A narrower crop above the pathline may have helped.
