Thanks benny! I don't know why but shutterfly always chops my photos off.

Perhaps you can try www.photobucket.com.

They don't seem to give this problem.

(My wife said if I got one more pet She was going to start charging to come into our house.
As it is we have 5 parrots, 7 aquariums and 3 dogs do you think she would mind a few orchids? [smilie=huh.gif] [smilie=rolleyes.gif] )

The black background is really great!!! What background material was that?

It is a piece of dark green velvet cloth draped over a piece of foam core board.

What are you using to light it?

My orchid is finally in full bloom so i will hopefully be able to take some pis of it soon.

That black background really made the orchid OUT.....STANDING. Infact, black background is applicable to many other subjects beside orchids.

The light is from a nearby window. Shutter speeds were very slow so I used a sturdy tripod. Velvet cloth makes an excellent background - it seems to just absorb excess light. (crushed velvet does not share this property)

Hey Finz, cannot complain anything much. IMHO, for that second pic, maybe can try to crop or remove away that little bit of leave at the bottom. It somehow seems to have "spoil" the overall look.
