I saw this guy at the San Antonio Zoo and his eyes just captured me. I shot close to 20 shot of him trying to capture the expressiveness in them. This one I believe was the best. What do you think?

I see what you mean about the expression in those eyes. Unfortunately the shot is not quite sharp - I think there is a little camera-shake, rather than incorrect focus. The light seems to have been bad, but the situation looks as if it would have been difficult to use flash. Sometimes you do the best you can and have to settle for a less than perfect result.

Do you shoot in raw? did you sharpen? Photoshop could sharpen that image to almost tac sharp.

I think that this image would have been more expressive if you were at a lower angle to the lemur, assuming the enclosure allowed. Shooting down to the animal does not often aid the composition. If you can try, get down at the animals eye level and you will notice a big difference. Obviously that is not always possible with some animals like giraffe!!! From a raised viewing area, this can be done easier if the animal is further back in the enclosure, assuming you have a long enough lens.

Difficult light on this shot. Perhaps increase ISO/shutter speed to remove the camera shake.
