Hi,
to me the shadows look equal on both pictures, the only difference is the strength of the flash, which was too strong in the first photos. I guess one can achieve this by downpowering the flash. Anyway, the first photos are very bad done. Purpose?

Yeah - I have my doubts the pics in the listing were even done with the diffuser - looks to me to be pics with altered levels/curves/contrast etc. Would have to test it myself. Just thought it looked like an interesting concept... I've looked for a review somewhere and haven't turned much up yet. Always worries me when the only hits you can find are to Ebay listings lol
You can also save some money and just go to a hardware store. Take a look at their lighting panel covers. Cut them to size and you basically have the same thing but at a much cheaper cost.
