I am experimenting with the built-in flash and increased shutter speeds. Here are some shots that turned out rather well.

Cindy, nice first tries! On the first pic, you don't want to crop the fins...was that the whole pic? Try using
a piece of tissue paper to cover the flash (make sure it's about a 1/4" from the flash). This will help diffuse
the flash and you won't get those beamy bright spots on the fish's flanks.

Just won on ebay a Canon G2 and am looking forward to packing it around on walks, etc. Here's a site
that will show you what the G1 is capable of: http://tinyr.us/5147

It amazed me, anyway;)

Have fun, take more pics!:)

That wasn't on purpose really. It's never easy to catch them in the frame. The best feature of a tetra is that they can be very stationary. Thanks for the advice.

Cindy, nice first try. I would look into flash diffusion, you are getting a lot of reflection from the scales. And, you are shooting VERY reflective fish. There are many posts on flash diffusion on APF.

Good first shots. A slave flash overhead would simply amaze you with the difference.

Hi Cindy, since most fishes have largest surface toward camera direction, hence the built in flash always creates strong reflections. You might try the diffuser idea as Ed mentioned.
