Has anyone used this camera before? If so what are the pros and cons(I know there are reviews out there but I wanted to hear opinions and see some pictures)? Any pictures produced from the camera? Sorry if this is in the wrong thread.

John,

Not to say that this is a "bad" camera but I think a lot of members on this forum, or at least those who are serious about aquatic photography, would prefer DSLR camera. Obviously DSLR is a bit more expensive but at the end well worth it. 1:1 macro capability, interchangeable lenses, multiple flashes, fast shutter speed and many other are the reason why hobbyists are dishing out $$$ on DSLR setups.

I guess you really have to think about this purchase and decide if you can justify ~$1000 on fish / plant / nature / family / events photography. You CAN use P&S camera for all those objects, however you will get a lot better output when using DSLR.

Not sure if this was helpful or not but this is something I tell everyone who is looking to spend ~$500 on P&S camera.

John, I agree with Jay on this one, specially if you can get a DSLR these days for about $599. Even with a basic lens and a on-camera flash, you can do better. Plus if you then add other things later to the camera, you will improve dramatically.

Now reg: that specific camera, I doubt you will find much in a way of samples around here. Honestly, big majority of the better photography comes out of the DSLR part of the hobby. It's just more equipped.

You can read reviews of the camera on many sites incl. : fredmiranda.com and dpreview .com
