Hi

For a couple of weeks now a buzzard has been feeding on worms in a local horse paddock rather than its usual prey of rabbits. So I thought I would go back the other day to get some more shots while the opportunity is there as its unusual to see this bird anywhere near the ground. The bird is still at quite long range so the 1.4TC + 500mm has needed to come out a bit.

Another worm spotted

Those are some nice shots. I love birds of prey, especially hawks. Good work.

Great captures Rich. That bird looks like the perigrin falcons that have nested in the downtown Baltimore skyline near me.

I think I'll have to start saving for a super long lens.:-( ...:-)

Squidfish

Your bird is a Buzzard Buteo buteo. They apparently make frequent trips to the ground foraging for food. Yours obviously has a taste for worms :-)

Some awe inspiring shots you have there! Incredible! Thanks for sharing.

(just noticed the title of your post - you knew the name already  sorry - i'll just sit in the corner and be quiet)

When people say buzzard around here they are usually refering to Cathartes aura. Common names:confused: I hate em.

Aha - Cathartes aura, Turkey Vulture here (not that we get them here of course - hehe)
