I am here to expand my aquarium hobby with digital photography. One day I wish to own the sony A100.
Right now I use the SONY DSCH1. I purchased the macro filter but didn't see much improvement. Capture speed sucks to. Fish move fast and I click slow!!!
Here is my favorite so far...I am getting photoshoppe CS. PICS should be better after Thursday.

You are doing a lot of experiments. I like the third photo best (is it P. humilis?) in terms of focus and composition, but the lighting is not so good. The direct flash shots show the colours much better, but they aren't very subtle. I'd suggest you stick with your firemouths as subjects (they'll get used to being your models) and try to diffuse your flash a bit, as recommended in dozens of posts here. Patience and practice will bring rewards (and CS2 will help as well, but it will take you some time to master it).

Hello Rich, since I have the same camera as you I need an advice about the macro lens and an external flash. Did you purchase the Sony's or they are compatible products from other producers? Especially for flash you use - could you provide me a link for the product page? About your photos - I believe your macro lens did their jobe. I've tried some macro shots with the native lens of the camera and your photos seems far better than mine (especially the details of pleco? or Ancistrus? are quite convincing for me). I'm not a beginner in aquarium hobby (found of planted tanks) but I'm far from being an expert in aquatic photography. Thank you!
