Today I was calling on an account in Lancaster County, PA. We were talking about the highland bird season that is currently going on in Pennsylvania. My customer was complaining that there just aren't pheasants in the area like there use to be.
After my visit I am going down a small country road near the Susquehanna River. I am driving under a small one lane tunnel that passes under a railroad track alongside the river when, about a fifty yards away, I see this guy. He is in this roadside area that is maintained by the local dam company.
Unfortunately, by the time I scramble to get the camera and lens together, he heads back into the siding brush. This is the only fair shot I get. Nothing compared to the work you are use to seeing here by Rich, Alan, Jay and many of the other great outdoor photographers on this site. But, for me, it was a real joy.
A wild ringneck pheasant, avoiding the hunters nearby....
