Hey, guys, how's it going? These are pretty much my best pics I've taken so far, so I was wondering if you have any suggestion on how I could do better in the future, which I guess is the whole point of htis forum. :)

First is a close-up of one of my brichardi fry. I used the flash, and cropped a lot out of the picture. You can see some reflections from the flash, but I like the detail.

This is another pic of two fry. It's a little out of focus, but there's something about it I like. Taken w/o flash, just tank lights.

Here's a picture of their mother, uncropped. Lighting is from the tank lights. This is where my avatar image comes from.

Here's how I chose to crop it. What do you think?

And here's head shot of dad. I used a flash on this one, too. He was inside a flowerpot cave, so the tank light was much too dim.

Well, thanks for taking the time to check out my pics. Later.

Yours pics are good. I noticed some of them are pretty noisy. What are the settings and setup that you used? Those data will help us to understand the pictures even more.

I just change the shooting mode from auto to "P", so I can set the focus manually, and let the camera take care of shutter speed and aperture size. I am kind of familiar with these concepts in theory, but haven't really experimented with it much yet.

The ISO setting affects noise right? I'll have to do a search regarding that, and see what I can learn. I also have Adobe Photoshop 7, can it filter out some of the noise?

Thanks for your time.

I was just reading the other post about Canon A70, and learned how to look at that EXIF stuff.

These were the settings for picture #1:
Shutterspeed = 1/60th sec
F-Stop = 2.8
Focal length 5.4mm

Picture #2:
Shutterspeed = 1/100th sec
F-Stop = 2.8
Focal length = 5.4mm

Picture #3:
Shutterspeed = 1/15th sec
F-Stop = 4.8
Focal length = 16.2mm

I didn't see anything about ISO, but there were a ton of other settings listed as well.

It is. The higher the ISO, the more noise you will get. As for photoshop, I don't think they have such a feature.

Try downloading Noise Ninja, Neat Image. You need to buy licenses for these but they're excellent softwares to remove noise.

For free one you can try Helicon Noise Filter. Quite good. Do a search on google.
