I am an amatuer but I would like to learn to take good photos.

Very pretty! This works well as a black and white image, but I think an image with a little colour would also look good.
I would also be tempted to try cropping off a little from each side of the image to concentrate the eye on the conifer - it might look nice if cropped to a square shape.

PS. This can't be taken this year ? I'm in NJ and there is no snow yet :)
