Hi there I just got photoshop 5.0 for x-mas and have found a little problem with it I do all the tuch ups and looks good but as soon as I try to check the pix out and post it they look worse than the original and it may be some thing very simple but I'm stumped may be its the software maybe its me but i really could use some help please. thanks
Are you saving it under the sRGB profile or Adobe RGB profile. My guess is that you're saving it under Adobe RGB or some other profile instead of sRGB.

Yep,
What profile has your computer screen? (check it with Adobe gamma in the control panel, by the way you could adjust the contrast of your screen)
Most of the screens are under sRGB so, even if your screen is under Adobe RGB, and everything looks fine in your screen, the colours can be washed out for others. The best is to change the profile of the pictures for the web into sRGB and keep original pictures (and the ones you want to print) in Adore RGB as it might be the colour space used by professional printing companies (prints in CMJN), as Adobe RGB is wider space colour than sRGB.
Link in french but it might help for understanding:

Can you show one of those pictures before and after edition? Just reduce the size ;) .

That wouldn't make a difference.

Kaiser,
#1) Check your camera setting. What is camera Color Space - sRGB or Adobe RGB ?
#2) When you open PhotoShop are you being asked about embedded working space ? What do you select ?
#3) Open any picture in PhotoShop then select Edit -> Convert to Profile. What is Source Space ? What is Destination Space ?
#4) Open any picture in PhotoShop then select Edit -> Assign Profile. What is Working RGB ?
