These are all amzing shots. I'm not a bird person, but I surely enjoy your pictures a lot.

Rich,
I always enjoy your shots! Would you mind sharing what lens you typically use?
Thanks,
Kathy

thanks for the replies. Kathy these were shot using the Canon 500mm f4 lens which somethimes has the 1.4 x teleconvertor added to give some extra distance.

cheers

I think Rich's series are getting better and better. The water rail stands out for me, because they are such hard birds to see - so nailing an action shot like this is a top-quality effort. Well done!

Beautiful pictures Rich! The shoveler really gets my attention but I like the pose on the tufted duck also.

I love the detail on the cormorant's wings. These are all great photos. We have four species of ducks floating in our creek, hopefully I can manage to take such nice photo's like yours. I'm not a complete beginner in photography, (only had cheap 35mm cameras till now) I bought a Pentax K100d and love it. And last year my dad let me have his Pentax K1000 SLR so I exchange the lenses for both cameras all the time.
