This is a Spiral Daylight Bulb. It produces 75 Watts of Bright white light!...

I plan on Adding 2 more to cover The tank better.

Very interesting. Thanks for sharing.

Does the light set raise the water temperature during extended use?

Cheers,

RIght now, as far as i can tell, No.
These spiral bulbs dont get as hot s the reg. bulbs. These stay kinda warm, not hot.

Hey Gordeez, thanks for sharing. This is one affordable method. Those high-powered lighting saled in LFS could be way up to $500!!!

Looks really good, Gordeez. REally nice. The colors look very natural. May I use the pics and the description in an article? I will compile diff. methods into an article about lighting. I am waiting for Melissa to show off her display. It sounds great from what she said, she's using something totally different, Halogen lighitng.

hey guys

Went to HD today, got 3 hang-ons for $5.99 each, and 3 100W bulbs for $14.99 each. They are more intense than the spirals that Gordeez used. I think they may be overkill but I will try and then return if they are too much. The bulbs are bigger and look a little different. I will do a session Hopefully tonight and will take pics and descriptions. Then I gotta find out from Melissa about what kind of setup she's got and try that out also. It's a great find, really, as you always tell people that lighting is important but they can never afford the silly expensive Coralife or JBJ setups.

Cheers,
ed

Yea, the reason i Stick the Spiral is they dont put off as much heat.

Feel Free to use the pics man. I dont mind.

hey Gordeez

Do you have the info on what kind of bulbs these are? I got the bigger ones (not spirals but sticks) and they are WAAAAY too yellow. Who makes them, model # ..... Whatever info you can.
Thanks

for lack of money....right now i'm using halogen work lights....I'm borrowing them(no charge for me :)).....they work...but I can't use them too long cause they heat up real quick....and as my fishies are gold fish....the prefer the cooler temps....so I keep an eye on the thermometer when I shoot...not to mention I have to set the white balace so the pictures aren't all yellowy....which is a mistake I made the first time I used them and all the pics turned out pretty icky....yeah...*shrugs*....it's kinda(really) ghetto...but after my new camera...it's about all I can "afford".
