Hi there,
I am new to the aquatic photography scene. I raise bettas. I am on a tight budget so I can only spend about 200-300 for a camera. I know very little about digital cameras. I was wondering if anyone can give me some specs to look for in a good camera for my budget. If you can give me some min. and max. specs to look out for that would be helpful.

a good macro feature is a must for fish photography.

in that range, i'd go with say the nikon coolpix 3200, or something similar. its about $250 thereabouts - 3 megapixel, good macro (nikons are known for that).

but there are other cameras out there with good macro, i'm just more familiar with the nikons.
